That my friends, is total dejection & utter dismay & I LOVED IT. The Angels killed JR. I am reveling in the misery of Red Sox's nation right now. The beloved Pap, unable to get 1 more strike at home to keep the Red Sox season alive. Many in Red Sox nation declared "WE HAVE THEM RIGHT WHERE WE WANT THEM!!!" Referring to the recent string of post season success facing elimination. Papelbon entered the 8th for the 4 out save with runners on 2nd & 3rd allowed the single that scored 2 runs. Papelbon then picked off Reggie Willits to end that inning. In the 9th, Papelbon had a 2 run lead & quickly got 2 outs. Then, he imploded. A single to Aybar, walk to Figgins, a double to Abreu, intentional walk to Hunter before Vlad "The Impaler" lined a single to centerfield scoring the tying & the go ahead runs. Papelbon not only didn't close, he didn't finish, left after 1 inning of work, without a strikeout & allowing 3 runs before making way for Hideki Okajima. The Red Sox bullpen, a staple all year, gave up 5 runs with 6 outs left in an elimination game. What makes it more hysterical, is that Papelbon, allowed 2 inherited runs to score in the 8th. Runners he inherited from Billy Wagner, the same Billy Wagner he critisized earlier in the year.
Actions speak louder than words, so here is a picture describing the way I feel:

Have a happy off season LOSERS!!!
LOL. love the title. nicely done
ReplyDeleteRuss, you're spittin' brimstone and hellfire these days.
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to see the Sox let Papelbon go, and go Wagner as a cheap stopgap to close next year as they groom Bard some more. I saw an article that said maybe Pap ends up in Philly? That whole scenario playing out makes sense to me. Philly's in prime form to compete. Solidify the weak links and that team's got some staying power.
Liked your yankee piece too. Anyone yankee faithful on the board guilty?
hitz
hey Hitz what's up. no one on the board was the culprit of my wrath, that's a story for another day. Cosmo was actually a model citizen thus far.
